Emergency Services
Our manufacturing clients must keep inventory low to remain competitive. So if there's a snag in production - such as a fire or explosion -- time is of the essence to get up and running to maintain profitability.
Priding itself in unique customer service, VM Systems created its Emergency Services division to address such unexpected adverse situations. If a client has an emergency, our crew can respond to their needs 24 hours a day, seven days a week.
Because emergencies do not always have a good sense of timing, it's not uncommon for VM Systems to get a call in the middle of the night. But within a few hours we have a plan in place, with crews on site or fabricating specific items needed to get the customer back online.

Coming to the rescue on a holiday weekend
KENTON, Ohio - Occidental Chemical needed help, and they needed it fast.
An explosion had ripped through a cyclone separator, rendering it useless. It was the Friday before Labor Day weekend, and the company could not afford to lose production.
Occidental called GEM Industrial in Lima, Ohio, and asked if they could fabricate a new separator by the end of the long weekend and have it in place by start of the line on Tuesday morning.
Ron King of GEM and VM Systems met at the jobsite in Kenton, about 70 miles south of Toledo. Their task - measuring a destroyed separator so new materials could be ordered -- wasn't easy.
"Not only were we trying to measure a piece of equipment that had exploded, the original drawings didn't have all the details needed," Ron says.
The drawings eventually were finalized and materials ordered, some of which were picked up in Cleveland. VM Systems started working around the clock to fabricate a new separator. By the end of second shift on Sunday, the job was complete and primer painted. The new separator was installed Tuesday morning, as asked.
"The customer was extremely satisfied that we could fabricate and install the equipment not only in such a short timeframe, but also on a holiday weekend," Ron says. "I want to thank all the craftsmen involved with this project for taking time away from their families in the interest of business."

1997 Globe Industries
At about 10:30 p.m., we got a call about a duct fire at Globe Industries. By 4 a.m. we had reviewed the damage and the next morning our crews were fabricating and installing ductwork using two shifts. Working with the owners we established a schedule to get the back online, and we beat our deadline by three days.

2000 General Mills Bulk House Explosion
At about 7 p.m. VM Systems received a call from Rudolph/Libbe (the construction manager for General Mills) about an explosion and fire. The sidewall of the bulk house had been destroyed and new sheeting was needed. Unfortunately, it would take about two weeks to get new siding. VM Systems designed a metal panel that was both waterproof and - more importantly - insect proof. Crews began erecting panels within 12 hours of getting design approval.
